Every Summer, the Payson Center for International Development offers intensive, two (2) to three (3) week long programs with one (1) to two (2) courses per location.

Our 2014 Global Development Summer Institute offers graduate students exciting courses that combine theory & practice in the developing world.
Students will have the opportunity to:

  • Study in settings that connect the classroom and the field through excursions and local guest speakers;
  • Engage in cross-cultural learning and study with peers from the host countries;
  • Study with globally engaged faculty; and
  • Explore the intersections of development interventions, culture, social, and political structures.

Courses are open to graduate students and non-Tulane graduate level-students. All courses earn three (3) credits. The cost is $4,100 for one course or $7,500 for two courses in the same country. (Note: Price does not include airfare).

For Summer 2014, the Payson Center for International Development is pleased to offer courses in six (6) locations:

  • Brazil
  • Liberia
  • Nepal
  • Panama
  • Sri Lanka
  • Thailand

We are also offering independent study field research opportunities in:
