NewDay Speaker: Matt Flannery, Co-Founder of Kiva

Matt Flannery, founder of Kiva, will be visiting Tulane in January as a feature expert in the NewDay Speaker Series.  Kiva is a non-profit that connects people through lending to alleviate poverty.  Leveraging the internet and a worldwide network of microfinance institutions, Kiva lets individuals lend as little as $25 to help create opportunity around the world.

Bringing some Payson-style logic to a national microfinance event


This past weekend, two other Tulane undergraduates and I attended the sixth annual Lend for America Summit. This year held at UC Berkeley, the Summit brings together students and professionals active in the American microfinance industry. This year’s theme was “Activating Impact”, with a focus on how to provide the highest quality services to micro-entrepreneurs in communities around the country.

Kiva San Francisco Fellows Program seeks applicants


Recent undergraduate International Development Cooridinate major alumna, Darcey Tindall is currently working for the Fellows Program at Kiva San Francisco. She has contacted the Payson Center to inform graduate students that Kiva is now recruiting its 24th class of fellows, who will deploy to the field this coming summer. The summer term has a limited number of 12 week placements.
